A local woman has unfortunately come to the conclusion that she definitely couldn’t afford to eat out on the regular, after a weeknight catch up with some mates saw her calculating how many hours of work the meal cost her.

Dining out with her hospo mates, who were all probably thinking the same thing, Dana Fortunati was unable to completely enjoy the experience of tucking into a juicy parmigiana when she realised that the small slab of crumbed chicken was an hour’s pay.

Second only to realising the bar she worked at was ironically well out of her price range, Dana says she welcomes the day when she can stop viewing everything from food to products as an hour of her life.

“The value of my time is one chicken parmigiana an hour”, says Dana, letting out a small sigh before burying her head in her hands, “I am worth a quarter of a chicken.”

“The two glasses of wine I had were also worth an hour.”

“So to make sure I’m getting value for money, I need to stick around for at least two and half hours.”

“That’s how it works, right?”

More to come.
