Popular Gold Coast man Cody Simpson has this week achieved an incredible feat, jumping from the deep end of the music industry into the deep end of a swimming pool.
The successful pop star has this week bagged himself a Gold medal at the Commonwealth games.
This comes nearly a decade since he started dropping bangers and collabs with the likes of Flo-Rida, and follows a multi-year commitment to a swimming career.
The pop star won his first Comm Games gold medal after Australia won the 4x100m freestyle relay in Birmingham yesterday morning.
The 25-year-old didn’t make the final team, but swam the second leg of the first heat making himself the most successful musical athlete since Brett Lee.
Brett Lee famously played guitar in the popular cricket band Six and Out and starred in the Bollywood film UNIndian, where Meera, an attractive single mother of Indian origin living in Australia, faces the wrath of her family after she falls in love with a white Australian man.
Lee followed the footsteps of the great Anthony Mundine, who famously jumped from Rugby League to Boxing to dropping the smash-hit Knock You Out with Joel Turner.
While many thought the multi-talented achievements of Lee and Mundine would never be seen again, Cody Simpson has since blazed his own trail.
“What a man,” said Gold Coast local Burleigh Mermaid today.
“Shaq Diesel has nothing on what Cody’s done.”
