Coles CEO Leah Werkett has today told the press that even though these stories about the cockatoo living in Campelltown Coles are pretty funny, that little arsehole will be expected to spend a couple of hours manning the till to work off all those brioche buns she ate.

For those who haven’t been inundated with stories of the cost of living cocky on their feeds, a cockatoo, affectionately named ‘Mickey’ was recently removed from Coles Macarthur Square in Sydney’s south-west after living in the supermarket for a month.

Previous attempts to remove the belligerent bird had proved unsuccessful until wildlife handlers brought in a support cockatoo to lure her out.

Though people were initially worried the bird might be killed, given that the supermarket giant doesn’t take too kindly to thieves, Werkett has assured that she won’t harm a feather on Mickey’s head – but that Mickey will be expected to work the till for her supper.

“We don’t want this behaviour encouraging copycats, so Mickey will be expected to work a few hours this Saturday”, says Werkett, “she’ll be working the till.”

“I don’t trust her to pack the shelves.”

More to come.
