The last factory in Betoota Heights that still manufactures things has been praised for a random act of kindness today.
The Lickiss & Sons company that specializes in some niche mechanical parts for farm equipment has told all employees who support Wests Tigers to just have the day off.
The kind gesture of a paid flexi-Friday comes after the disgraceful game of Rugby League that was the Wests Tigers versus the Gold Coast Titans last night.
Played in front of a live audience, the abomination that kids should not have been able to watch saw the Tigers and Titans fight out a 2-2 first half before a disgusting kick hit the upright in the 80th minute with the Tigers losing possession in their own in-goal allowing the Titans to ground the ball and win the game 8-6.
The game that left hundreds of thousands of people washing their eyes out, dropped the Tigers to an 0-4 start.
The significant pressure on the coach now mounts, as the limp playing squad continues to limp around the paddock for 80 minutes.
So as a result of the full-time whistle sounding in that game, fans of the club that has lost its identity were told by Tony Lickiss, the 3rd generation Lickiss in charge of Lickiss & Sons, to just have a day off.
“I just thought they might need it,” said Tony, who sent the text around at 10PM last night.
“I mean, anyone who watched that game probably deserves a Flexi, but poor old Tigers fans have had a rough few years.”
“So I just thought it was the right thing to do.”
“I feel so sorry for them.”
“God it must be tough.”
The Advocate attempted to contact multiple employees at the company who support the Tigers, but were told they didn’t feel up to talking.
More to come.
