Sections of our nation’s media are raising the alarm this morning as Prime Minister Anthony Albanese updated his register of interests to include a massive rental income from his new Copacabana shitbox.
Albanese and his fiance Jodie Haydon paid over $4m for it and now plan to rent it out for around $1500 a week. That income adds up to $78 000, which can be put to work at tax time via negative gearing. The repayments on said shitbox are unknown but probably gargantuan compared to what the everyday mouth-breathing mortgage payer has to endure.
So it’s hard to work out exactly how much the Haydon-Albanese clan are going to pilfer from the taxpayer, considering nobody knows how much deposit they paid and other facets.
Speaking to The Advocate today from our crosstown, NewsCorp-owned rival, The Betoota Bugle, property editor William Williams said it was an “egregious and greedy move”.
“Can you believe, this neo-liberal Albanese is getting richer and richer through property! And we the taxpayer are paying for it all!” explained Williams.
“He is using negative gearing to net himself a huge tax saving! What a hypocrite! Can you believe it! A Labor Prime Minister using negative gearing!”
Williams said he was well aware that his cross-chamber counterpart Peter Dutton, and pretty much every other self-interested suckhole in the House of Representatives, has multiple investment properties and use negative gearing to minimise their tax.
“But they say they love it! That it’s a device to build wealth! And it is. It’s dreadful and he should be leaving it empty like a real leftie!”
More to come.
