An area once only inhabitable to dodgy cops and leathery mixed business owners has had a glow up in recent years delighting property owners and enjoyers of decent coffee.
Flight Path District adjacent suburb Darling Hills, formerly Macquarie’s Throne, was once the sort of place where someone could get drunk and glassed for under ten dollars but these days you’ll be lucky to pay that price for a cheese and bacon roll.
And now, the final horsemen of gentrification has galloped into town like a rescued greyhound which, like all other dogs in the neighbourhood, have a Japanese name.
“Dumpling, come back here!” yelled one dog park attendee who was soon bowled over by no less than 30 dogs named Dumpling, spilling the contents of all three KeepCups they were holding.
“Oh fucking hell. Babe, grab Lotus and Akira would you, let’s go home.”
No one is entirely sure why all Darling Hills dogs have Japanese inspired names but current theories suggest it is a way of giving your dog a dignified name while letting people know that you’re a nerd who has travelled abroad before.
