A local bloke has been spotted stepping up his financial security this week as he prepares to attend his first Blink 182 show in two decades.
Travis Skiba (38) of Betoota Heights is one of the many inked up out of towners who will be trekking to Sydney soon to attend the Californian band’s run of shows at the Qudos Arena.
Keen to relive his golden years as a punk sk8er boy who survived high school on a healthy diet of Dude Ranch, Trav has allegedly swapped his chestnut brown Rodd & Gunn wallet to a velcro Dickies one complete with half a foot of dog chain.
“Yeah I don’t know what’s gotten into him, we went to the shops yesterday and it was like walking next to a school janitor hearing that chain-link jangle all over the place,” Trav’s wife Janine told our reporter.
“Then this morning when he was mowing the lawn his hat got more sideways with every strip, it was backwards by the time he got to the whipper snipping.”
Given it’s been a full 24 years since Travis saw Blink play at the Big Day Out back in 2000, Trav has told our reporter that a recent bout of lower back pain will stop him from getting rowdy in the mosh and kicking a fellow concert goer in the head with his checkerboard vans.
“Yeah no general admission for me, but I did get myself the nice VIP lounge experience tickets with a commemorative tour laminate and a cocktail on arrival,” Trav told The Advocate.
“It’ll definitely be a different experience from seeing them at Big Day Out on the Goldy, I won’t be coming straight from the 28 Days set, pinging off my head with an eyebrow piercing.”
