Swedish furniture brand Ikea has been lauded for their new inclusive catalogue this week, after unveiling a bachelor themed bedroom pack for just $500.
Named ‘The Eclectic Bachelor‘, this pack is set to include just a few furniture staples such as a mattress, cheap drawers and a floor lamp, and includes bonus items the buyer can add on as an extra – including an acoustic guitar, set of empty alcohol bottles or a dead plant!
Speaking to the head of project design, Nina Erikson, The Advocate learns that this new theme is designed with minimalism in mind, and for a bachelor in his early twenties who isn’t looking to settle down with a serious relationship anytime soon.
“We did a lot of extensive research”, explains Erikson, “and actually ended up basing a lot of the items on the Norway prison cell.”
“So included is a doona without a cover sheet, and a single pillow, and just a single bottom sheet.”
“It’s very customisable, so we envision they’ll add their own flair to the design.”
“Whether that be a homemade bong, a water bottle, multiple protein powder tubs or a book about the hustle mindset.”
More to come.
