Hips are swinging at the Betoota racecourse this evening, as local revellers begin cutting shapes on a thriving wedding dance floor.
Packing out the function centre with a 100+ strong wedding party, it’s understood the nuptials of local couple Dani and Kalum Hodges has reached fever pitch, thanks to a limitless supply of booze and loud music.
Inspired by bottomless glasses of wedding Prosecco and European beers, it’s believed up to 40 guests have segued onto the parquet floor, grooving and jiving to a playlist of beloved wedding classics.
After kicking off the night with some routine ‘I Wanna Dance With Somebody’ and The B52’s ‘Love Shack’, The Advocate understands local USB-DJ Sam Reid, aka DJ Limewire, has thrown caution to the wind and decided to drop in a Michael Jackson classic.
Despite being quietly cancelled by radio stations and media organisations around the world due to the multitude of sexual abuse claims directed at the late singer, it appears the infectious grooves of ‘Don’t Stop Til You get Enough’ still seems to inspire good times on the dance floor.
Speaking to the local laptop musician, who soundtracks the majority of weddings and 21st birthdays in town, DJ Limewire told The Advocate he justifies the song’s appearance on the basis of Quincy Jones’ exceptional producing skills and the timeless nature of the ‘Off The Wall’ record.
“Yeah look it’s pretty uncouth, but it seems everyone just has their blinkers on to everything that happened post 1980, and is just happy remembering the time Jackson was simply the King of Pop.”
“You watch, I’ll put ‘Moves Like Jagger’ on next and it’ll stir up a dancing frenzy, everyone hated Adam Levine a few weeks ago but it’ll go off tonight as well!”
