An Italian man who works 14 hours a day 6 days a week is way too laid back and smooth for someone who works in a high paced restaurant/bar in the city.
28 year old Marco Picariello , hails from the town of Aiello del Sabato in southern Italy, nestled in the picturesque hills of the Campania region.
Due to unemployment issues in his home country, Marco has been living in Sydney’s eastern suburbs and saving up money in a work-heavy working-holiday Visa stay.
The young Campano says that while the hours are long, it pales in comparison to back home.
“Ahh, in Italia, I worka even more hour, but I only getta paid half as much, eh!” the Italian man complained.
“In Australia, ehh, so many beautiful women, and you make-a much more money!” he explained.
Despite the reassurance that Marco is perfectly happy, many Australians can’t wrap their heads around working so many hours and still having a positive outlook on life.
“Mate, if I had to work that long, everyone that knew me would also know I work that long” said Brett Walsch (33), Marco’s downstairs neighbour.
In a shocking turn of events, The Advocate has been able to uncover what it is that allows Marco to maintain his charming, laidback and flirtatious aura while also working himself to a grave.
Despite not even attempting to keep it a secret, it seems as though no one has yet clocked on to Marco’s hidden super power that allows him to get through his non-stop hospo work life.
Weed.
Marco is more than happy to admit he smokes, before, during and after his shifts.
“Ahh, I smoke-a da weed all da time, eh! It help-a me relax, make-a me calm. I no hurt nobody, and I like it, eh!”
