K-mart has admitted that they place their checkout as far away from the exit as possible in a cheeky attempt at tempting people to steal.

The nationwide store re-design a few years ago moved the checkouts, which are traditionally at the exit of the store, to the centre of the store, tucked away with almost no one watching.

“It can get a little dull around here so it’s definitely adding to the excitement of having to be way more vigilant of shoplifters” Said one Kmart store manager.

Many in the business community have been left baffled as to why the retail giant would go against all shopping norms by placing their self service machines where the men’s tracksuits would normally be.

“Why not? Sometimes you just need to reorganise, haha” Said a leading figure of the company.

It has been reported that many struggling uni students have applauded the store’s move, now that they can simply walk whatever they want and it not looking dodgy at all.

“I never used to steal, now I do it all the time.” Said Gracie Chalmers (22), a local law undergrad.

“It’s basically an honour system that no one has to honour.”

Kmart has brushed off criticism that it encourages shoplifting.

“Trust me, no one is getting past Aaron, the 14 year old with chronic asthma and bad eyesight.”

“He’s our permanent receipt checker and we know he’s up for it” Said a Kmart store manager.
