Children and lolly shop owners around Australia are rejoicing as school is finished for the year.
One group of children that are not so chipper are the nation’s year 6 students, many of whom are waving a teary goodbye to their friends who will be going to different high schools.
At the gates of Betoota Heights Public School, many of the red faced 11 and 12 year olds were unable to bid their friends a dry-eyed farewell with many of them describing this day as the saddest of their life.
As year six graduates ourselves, the team here at The Advocate can confirm that today is in fact the saddest day of these children’s lives, or at least will be until actually sad things start happening.
“I’m going to miss them so much,” stated year 6 student Jai Fielder, who would know more about true sadness when nana carks it.
“I don’t know how I’m going to get on without them.”
Luckily, our reporting team confirmed that Jai would learn to get on without her friends, just as one day she will have to learn to get on without her parents, the first person who broke her heart and a local MP who doesn’t care about local issues, all while enjoying very little job satisfaction.
