As Peter Dutton unveils the new campaign slogan, ‘Let’s Get Australia Back On Track’ or ‘LGABOT’, for short, it’s unknown whether the liberal leader is aware that the acronym looks like he’s added a couple of sexualities to the LGBT community.
The new slogan comes as Dutton’s latest attempt to recreate Trump’s divisive ‘Make American Great Again’ campaign, as well as having murdoch media flood every major channels with articles depicting Peter Dutton as the tough strong leader Australia needs, whilst simultaneously touching on every hot topic culture war topic possible to distract the public from the real issues that neither major political party seems keen on fixing.
A.k.a the Trump playbook.
This type of campaign, which relies on rage bait and fear, was popularised by US President Reagan during his campaigning in the 1980s (with the slogan ‘Are you better off than you were four years ago?) who became the blueprint for a Trump-style president to get in.
Despite having very little interest in world affairs, Reagan used his movie star charm, partnered up with religious corporations, and attacked hot culture war issues such as Roe vs Wade and protests against the Vietnam War to shape the style of the Republican party we see today.
And much like Trump has billionaires such as Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy in his back pocket, so too, has Dutton partnered with his own billionaire, Gina Rinehart – who’s been vocal with her support of Donald Trump and her hatred of ‘woke culture’, which is anything that could potentially eat into the substantial profits she’s made ripping the nation of its natural resources.
Unfortunately for Dutton, his attempts at emulating Trump are falling a little short, as not only is he a vacuum of charisma, but the slogan ‘Let’s Get Australia Back On Track’ just doesn’t quite hit the same, and his left his staff worrying that the acronym ‘LGABOT’ looks a little too similar to ‘LGBT.’
“I don’t know, kind of looks like ‘Lesbian gay asexual bisexual omnisexual trans’ to me”, says one staffer, “or like, Ligma Bot.”
“Ligma balls.”
More to come.
