Despite not getting the chocolates on the night, a local Matildas fan said the trip down to Sydney last weekend was made complete after taking in a few of the harbour city’s sights and sounds.
Denise Coleman told The Advocate her Sydneysider friend pointed out the Leaning Tower of Parra as they left Stadium Australia after the match.
“She goes, ‘You see that big pile of shit over there? That’s the Leaning Tower of Parramatta’ and they pointed at what I think it the Opal Tower. Apparently, there’s a few more in Mascot and Zetland. But this one near the stadium is most famous,” she said.
“It’s funny, hey? You can really see it lean. A few people were getting those pictures where they pretend to hold it up like they do for the original Opal Tower over in Italy. Pretty funny. She reckons that people have moved back into it, you couldn’t pay me enough to event go up to the first floor. It’s proper leaning,”
“”I don’t know how people live like that, hey? It’s grim as. How’s this sentient wheat bag of a Prime Minister telling people they need to live in apartments like that because we’re chock a block. Bugger that, I’d rather live in town than in the city – and that’s saying something.”
When asked if she’d gone into town to look at the fancy bridge and the Danish-style shouting rooms, Denise said she did but they look better in the pictures.
“We went to Bondi but it was too cold to have a dip,” she said.
“Then some bloke wearing perfume wanted $29 for some corn fritters at the cafe up the road. I told him to fold the fritters in half and shove em up his arse.”
More to come.
