A woman coming home to a very sullen boyfriend has come to the conclusion that his pixelated soccer players have made him angry again, having deduced that the playstation controller discarded on the lounge room floor was done so in rage.
Noticing he was quieter than usual and appeared to be ruminating over something in his head, Gwen Hobbs has figured out that the best thing she can do when Tom has had a FIFA meltdown is to let him sook for a bit.
“He’s usually quite a calm person, but there’s something about FIFA that sends him into a rage”, explains Gwen, “9 times out of 10, if he’s suddenly in a shit mood, it’s because he’s been playing that stupid game.”
“I don’t understand why he keeps playing if it causes him so much grief.”
Gwen says she once made the mistake of asking what made him so angry, when she was given a huge spiel on how ‘stupid and glitchy the game is.’
“Apparently it doesn’t matter how good you are, there are just things out of your control and it’s like he’s battling the system”, Gwen explains.
“He reckons it’s unfair and there’s no consistency.”
Gwen adds that Tom once got so angry, he managed to chip some of the wall by throwing his controller at it.
“I’m thinking of banning him from playing it.”
“For his sake.”
