A Dublin woman has developed a rather grand and ambitious plan to get on a plane and see if she has a shot at making it in the bright lights of Perth.

As an aspiring artist, Dublin local Fiadh O’Shea (23) feels like she may need to be in an inspiring environment where there are more opportunities for creatives.

Although she is only a short flight from culture capitals such as London, Paris, Amsterdam and Berlin, O’Shea thinks she might have found the perfect artistic environment at only five times the flight time.

With a bustling population four times the size of her native Dublin, a western facing vista and a real energy in the air, O’Shea is certain that Perth will be ‘her city’ just like the literal tens of privately educated women who feel the same way every year.

“As soon as I’ve got the money I am booking a one way ticket to Perth,” stated O’Shea while affixing a black and white photo of Elizabeth Quay to her bedroom wall.

“When I get there, every day I will drink a long mac and paint a watercolour on Rottnest Island. I’ll never look back.”
