A Betoota Heights couple have reached a bit of a stalemate this week, after an argument that was originally meant to be playful escalated into a full blown shouting match.
Imogen and Mick Hynes, both elder millennials, are alleged to have been tossing around baby names before the fight occurred, with Mick jokingly floating the idea of possibly naming their daughter after his favourite fictional character, ‘Arwen’ from Lord of The Rings.
However this was quickly rebutted by Imogen who admitted she was thinking of naming her after HER favourite fictional character, Ginny.
The book version of Ginny, obviously.
“Well she’s going to be Potterhead, so it makes more sense to name her Ginny”, Imogen had theorised, unaware she’d just severely insulted her husband, “Ginny is a much better role model.”
“And Harry Potter is way better, anyway.”
With raising their daughter on both franchises clearly not being an option, Mick went for the jugular.
“Are you serious? Harry Potter is fucking shit.”
“At least J.R.R Tolkein isn’t a raging transphobe.”
“He was born in the 1930s, so he probably was one!”, Imogen spat back, “They didn’t have Twitter back then, did they?”
“Anyway, Lord of the Rings is BORING.”
“All they do is walk on a mountain, BIG FUCKING DEAL!”
