A bloke who often faces criticism for enjoying ‘childish’ hobbies has today revealed that he’s actually very happy and well adjusted, and that everyone can quite frankly get stuffed.
James Fowler, 32, an SEO specialist at One Pump Digital, admits that he’s used to copping a side eye from his workmates whenever he mentions his dorky hobbies, but to him, it’s what makes life worth living.
Jame’s crimes against adulthood include assembling LEGO sets, attending comic conventions in full cosplay, and spending Thursday nights with his weekly Dungeons & Dragons group — hobbies that, according to his peers, are “wildly inappropriate for a grown man.”
“Look, it’s just embarrassing,” said Susan, who’s ironically enough the HR manager, ‘he’s out there building LEGO castles and painting miniature dragons. Seems like he needs to grow up.”
While his coworkers bust their ACLs at soccer training or hike trails, James finds joy in the simple pleasures — like building Star Wars LEGO sets or hand painting his three boobed Tiefling character, Vixra.
“When you’re a little kid, life is all about playing and experimenting and doing whatever brings you joy”, explains James.
“Then you become a teenager, and all you want is the approval of your peers. The self consciousness creeps in, and suddenly a lot of the things that make you happy become ‘uncool’ or ‘kids stuff.’
“The joy of being 32 is that I simply don’t give a fuck anymore. I get to revisit all the hobbies I enjoyed as a kid, but I have money now.”
“Don’t ask me how much I’ve spent on Warhammer though.”
