A scourge from above has rained down on the children of a Betoota mum this week, sending her into a spiral of worry and why.
On Saturday morning, Betoota Heights mum Linda Petaki (40) returned home with her family after a day at the Rum Lake Regatta Centre and discovered all three of her children (12,10,7) had been sunburnt.
Neighbours report hearing Petaki making the sort of sounds that are usually reserved for cars doing burnouts upon seeing her three kids now resembled a trio of cooked lobsters.
“Seriously, she was that livid I was kind of annoyed when I saw her kids were still alive,” stated one neighbour.
“The sounds she, made I expected to see a trail of body parts from here to Cloncurry.”
According to Petaki, the burns her children sustained could be caused by her kids going back into the water without letting the sunscreen absorb into their skin or it could be the wrath of a vengeful God sent to teach her gratitude.
“Is it because I wanted to spend the afternoon away from them or because I didn’t give Charlie a kiss goodbye the other day?” stated Petaki, wondering if these would be her last words before she is turned into a pillar of salt.
“Or maybe I should have gotten them to reapply after one hour instead of the advertised two.”
“I don’t know why it happened, only that it is my fault.”
Petaki then tortured herself by Googling stats such as how two out of three Australians get treated for skin cancer and wondering which of her two children would pay for her negligence.
