Letting out a happy sigh as she scrolls through Marketplace searching for plants within a 1km radius , local woman Rachel Hartnett chuckles at the person she’s become.

She never used to be a plant girl. Or a candle girl for that matter. In fact, if you’d told a 22 year old Rachel that she’d have eight different plants in her bedroom that were individually named and painstakingly cared for, she would have burst out laughing.

And to make things worse, she thirsts for more. Rachel won’t stop until every spare bit of unoccupied space is filled with greenery, even if it kills her…which can actually happen, seeing as plants do take up oxygen and she’s not one to leave her windows open often.

But that’s the price to pay for beauty.

Perhaps the sudden urge to surround herself with natural beauty is to compensate for the impending doom of turning 30, which Rachel has long been told is when women start rapidly losing their collagen and turn into swamp witches who are failures if they haven’t achieved their watershed moments yet.

Or maybe she just has a bigger disposable income and plants are nice to be around.

Who knows.

More to come
