Local tight arse, Nina Muller, found herself silently seething in the living room of her share house in Betoota’s French Quarter today, after her housemate, Jess, audaciously decided to use the clothes dryer on a perfectly sunny day.
Nina (26) who prides herself on her frugal lifestyle and energy-saving habits, couldn’t believe her eyes when she saw the dryer whirring away, gobbling up electricity that could have been saved with a simple trip to the clothesline.
“It’s 27 degrees outside with a slight breeze, perfect drying weather” Nina thought to herself, biting her tongue as Jess walked past her, seemingly oblivious to the cardinal sin she was committing. “Does she even know how much this racks up the electricity bill?”
Despite the growing urge to confront Jess and give her a lecture on energy conservation and the importance of lowering their shared utility costs, Nina opted for her usual non-confrontational approach: silently judging her from the couch while pretending to watch TV.
As the dryer continued its cycle, Nina’s internal monologue only intensified. “I’m paying more than my fair share for these bills,” she bemoaned. “Your clothes will dry faster outside too, I don’t get it”
But true to her nature, Nina remained quiet, resolving to grumble about it later to his other housemate, Nick – the one she actually likes. “Don’t even get me started on how often she turns on the heater during winter. Just put a jumper on!”.
“Yeah nah, I totally get that” Nick muttered, silently panicking as he tried to remember if he’d ever dared use the dryer when Nina was home.
