It can now be confirmed that Japan is simply the ‘thinking man’s’ Bali, as blokes around the nation continue to flock to the land of the cherry blossoms, to partake in its rich culture, excellent cuisine, high end ski resorts, and all the anime they can get their sticky hands on.
Unlike Bali, which is often frequented by Australians looking to bender in a familiar climate, Japan offers the perfect opportunity to enjoy a more refined travel experience without the ordeal of a 20-hour flight – and the opportunity to feel super smug and cultured when talking about your holiday.
Our reporter chats to some self confessed Japanophiles, to learn more about this fascinating trend.
“I go to Japan EVERY year”, confirms local bloke Matt Towley, “you just have to see the moss.”
“I can’t even begin to describe it to you.”
“It’s ethereal.”
Another bloke, Jordan Miller, says he got super into Japan after his mate introduced him to the lesbian gambling manga, Kakegurai.
“I’ve never had any desire to go to Bali, it’s a bit too low brow for me”, says Jordan, who has rubbed one out to a cartoon woman on more than one occasion, “no Bintang singlets for me thanks.”
More to come.
