A mouth-breathing Victorian currently enjoying the fruits of our home state as been left in awe by the incredible skill of the resort’s omelette man.

Staying at the Whiteshoe Sands Resort near Cairns last week, Melbourne man Derrin Sandels was first surprised that the resort offered freshly cooked omelettes when he arrived at the buffet on the first morning of his holiday.

The 34-year-old is in town for a wedding and decided to treat his family to a stay at the five-star Whiteshoe and really make a holiday out of the trip.

Speaking to The Advocate this morning at the hotel pool wetbar, Mr Sandels said he didn’t think this place as that flash.

“You know it’s flash if they have an omelette man,” he said.

“I was in awe of him. He was cooking three different omelettes at the same time. Then some guy asked him for two poached eggs and he just smiled and nodded. Cracked two eggs in one hand and popped them in the simmering pot. Incredible,”

“He even complimented me on my filling choices. Spanish onion, olives, bacon and bits of hash brown dotted throughout. I wonder what else he could do? I reckon he could reverse park a train of golf carts.”

The Advocate reached out to Whiteshoe for comment but have yet to receive a reply.

More to come.
