A restaurant in Betoota Heights has come under fire for putting in an automatic tip option for QR code orders, with many of the locals wondering why the fuck they should pay extra for a meal that requires no human interaction.
As Betoota is a little behind when it comes to technological advancements, ‘The Hairy Goat’ is the first restaurant to offer the option of ordering off a QR code.
But it’s a development that’s led to much backlash from the community.
“excuse me but why the fuck are they bringing this American shit here? We pay our hospo staff well?”, says local woman, Harriet Weathers, who was already angered by the prospect of paying $40 for a parmigiana and schooner of Stone and Wood, “what’s the tip for? Bringing it over?”
“The whole tipping system in America was designed so employers can pay their employees an unliveable wage.”
“The cheeky buggers even make it an automatic option. If I wasn’t paying attention, I would have paid 10% more.”
“Bloody ridiculous.”
An elderly couple who ventured into The Hairy Goat for the first time have also been left feeling confused, when a staff member informed them that menus could only be accessed by QR code.
“I have a smartphone but I don’t know how to do this QR shit”, says Peter, 71, “and apparently they got rid of all the physical menus?”
“Moira can’t see shit.”
More to come.
