A Betoota Heights woman has raised quite a few eyebrows this week, by creating a gift registry for her 35th birthday that listed everything from housing appliances, to a new pair of shoes she has an eye on.

Brea Tamlin [34] told The Advocate that she’d stumbled upon a pretty interesting article the other day, that highlighted the imbalanced relationship between single people and their coupled up friends – especially those who are starting families.

She explains her thought process to our reporter.

“I’d actually never thought about it before”, says Brea, letting out a rueful laugh,”I reckon I’ve spent a few thousand on weddings, housewarming gifts and baby showers, but I can’t remember the last time anyone bought me a present?”

“I don’t plan on having children, and who knows if I’ll have a wedding.”

“Seems a bit unfair, doesn’t it?”

Adding that she’s not waiting into a ‘landmark’ birthday to reap in her rewards, Brea says it’s high time single people ask for couples to start making amends.

“There are more milestones to celebrate than weddings and families.”

“Finished your PHD? Started a business?

“Got a vasetomy?”

“Bonk! Gifts please.”

More to come.
