Local “Citizen of the World” Zeke D’antonio (26) has once again left friends and acquaintances baffled and slightly offended by insisting that backgammon is an effortlessly simple game that requires nothing more than a basic level of patience to learn the rules and it’s definitely not the most complicated looking board game to ever come into existence.
Zeke is known for reminding anyone within earshot that he actually speaks a bit of French and that Istanbul has a really underrated party scene. Unsurprisingly, Zeke has touched down back in Aus after an 18 month get away with a newfound love for the ancient Greek game of Backgammon and is determined to teach the extremely simple and not complicated at all game to anyone he comes into contact with.
“I know it looks complicated but once you get the hang of it, you’re going to feel so dumb that you were ever intimidated by it. I actually learned how to play on the Turkish island of Güvercinada with an older man that owned an olive farm” Zeke casually mentioned, a look of condescension etched across his well-traveled face.
“The game of Backgammon really represents life itself, you’ve got to take risks to win, and also have gotten a really sweet inheritance at 18” Zeke reminded his friend who hasn’t been able to afford to eat out in 6 months.
In attempts to make the game seem less intimidating Zeke reminded his mate of just how widespread the game is along the Aegean coast.
“Trust me man, when I was Island hopping on a random dude’s sailboat, I would see 4 year olds playing the game with ease. I know you went to Public school, but I reckon you’ll be able to figure it out.”
Reportedly Zeke’s insistence on learning the game has rubbed some the wrong way.
“Yeah, I don’t think I like this guy anymore.” Said Zeke’s mate after what was meant to be a catch up with old friends was turned into a 2-hour backgammon crash course.
