In breaking news that’s sure to put a smile on the face of everyone who lives in Betoota Grove, the Kidman’s are away over Christmas!

That’s right, this week The Advocate is excited to report that the incredibly wealthy family, who own the two medical clinics and a pharmacy in Betoota, have jetted over to Japan for the summer break.

With temperatures climbing to the mid-thirties almost every day, it’s believed multiple neighbours who live within walking distance of the Kidman’s home have started helping themselves to their recently installed 15m x 3m concrete pool.

Speaking to a local man who shares the back fence with the Kidman’s stately home, the pool has become his personal oasis in the face of the searing heat.

“Mate it’s awesome, I’ve been jumping in for a little twilight dip every night,” Darren Saunders told the Advocate, as he stripped off his wet undies, slugged a mouthful of mid-strength beer and hung his wet Bonds on his clothesline.

“I’ve heard they’re away for three weeks, it’s the best Christmas present ever.”

Speaking to our reporter, who has also spent the afternoon mucking around in the same pool, it’s believed the open gate policy has allowed local neighbours to get one back on the snobbiest family in Betoota.

“They’re insufferable, driving around town all year in their Tesla, letting their lawn run long and only cutting it back when they can be bothered to book in a Jim’s Mowing service,” bemoaned the Kidman’s left side neighbour, Phil Boags.

“Let them flop about in the snow for a few weeks, I’m just hoping they don’t break a leg and have to come home early.”

“I’ve been starting and ending every day with a swim, just being a friendly neighbour and keeping an eye on it for them while they’re gone!”
