All local woman Lindsay Moore wanted to do was sit down and watch a movie with her mum. An activity that should have been easy enough, given it involved simply looking at a screen.
It’s alleged Lindsay had received a call from her mother Gill one Friday afternoon when she’d picked up an edge of loneliness in her mother’s tone. Being the good daughter she was, Lindsay had asked Gill if she’d like to have an impromptu movie night, which was agreed upon under the circumstances they ‘didn’t watch anything violent.’
However, the night was quickly derailed by Gill’s constant barrage of questions, most of which could be answered if she stayed quiet long enough to hear the dialogue.
“Do you want anything to eat? Should I make something to eat?”, asks Gill, as Lindsay’s fingers hover impatiently over the play button, “hang on, I think I have chips in the back of the cupboard.”
“What’s it about?”
“You’ll see mum, just watch the movie.”
“Who’s that?”
“That’s the main character’s sister, Katherine.”
“What’s happening? Can we rewind back a few minutes? I missed that part.”
“She’s gotten old, hasn’t she!? God, isn’t getting old awful?”
“Oh I love that actor, don’t I? What movie was he in, the one with Hugh Grant?”
“What’s he doing now? Is he still doing movies?”
More to come.
