After yet again escaping reality by watching Pride and Prejudice (not the shit one with the painfully boring Mr Darcy), local woman Rachel Zammet finds herself fantasising about the English countryside again.
Though she’d never considered herself the type of person who’d ever leave far from the city, she can’t help but admit that there is some appeal to living in a quaint cottage with a flickering fireplace, attending to her luscious herb garden and trio of ducks.
That, and baking her own bread, which she would then package neatly in twine and brown paper for her neighbours, who would then return the favour by bringing over shortbreads and fresh milk in a glass pitcher.
Oh, and of course, one of the neighbours would be exceptionally attractive and slightly brooding. Maybe even a little bit mean to her.
Yes, she really could see herself living out her little country dream, away from the backfiring of cars and the pathetic sliver of concrete that makes her balcony. Perhaps she could even start practising being a wiccan?
Sighing as she shakes her head, Rachel sadly admits to herself that she’s not really in the position to be able to move halfway across the world and realise her cottagecore fantasy, but sometimes it’s nice to imagine the simple life.
More to come.
