A Betoota Ponds woman has accused ‘Balls to the wall’ bouldering gym of discrimination this week, after being denied entry due to her profession, it’s reported.

Steph Bridgers, 32, alleges that she attempted to sign up for a casual pass last Thursday night when she was given a questionnaire to fill, which required her age, current fitness levels, medical information and a throwaway question about her career.

Thinking nothing of it, Steph had quickly filled in all the information and signed the injury waiver, when the clipboard was quickly snatched from her hands and she was informed that she wasn’t a ‘suitable candidate for the gym.’

After pressing the gym receptionist for the reason why she was denied, Steph was told she’d either have to work or study in a STEM related field before she was allowed entry.

“They told me I was already not the most desirable candidate because I’m not an asian baddie, but it was the career in marketing that really closed the door on me”, admits Steph.

Steph says she asked why there were children allowed in the gym if it was ‘STEM only.’

“Apparently kids are allowed because they can effortlessly scale up a while despite being only four feet tall, which makes all the newbie adult climbers feel like shit.”

Unperturbed, Steph says she might try to go back at some point and pretend she’s really into swinging.

“That might get me through the door.”
