The men and women at the coalface of the acute housing shortage in our great state have found themselves again in Las Vegas for their annual conference which, serendipitously, is on the day before the NRL Vegas Round to kick the season off.

Many builders, tradespeople and industry workers simply cannot believe their luck that the two events have lined up once again.

Last year was the first time that the South-East Queensland Master Builders Association found themselves looking beyond Conrad Jupiters (Now The Star Gold Coast) for their much-anticipated yearly get-together. The Association’s board made the suggestion that holding the conference overseas could help members unlock new experiences and knowledge that they could bring back to Queensland.

In a stunning coincidence, the NRL Vegas round was on at the sametime.

“It was a great shock,” said the Association’s local liaison, Glenn Davidson.

“Because a lot of members enjoy their rugby league, no matter who’s playing. It was also lucky that some members had accidentally purchased tickets to the event thinking it was the NRL Magic Round in Brisbane!”

“But for the two events, our conference and the NRL, to match up again in Las Vegas, you wouldn’t believe it even if it was published in The Betoota Advocate! No, we were blown away again.”

The NRL season is just 29 days away. The Association hopes to add on a mixer between local builders in Las Vegas and Members at the round, which kicks off on the 1st of March.

“That’s the dream,” Davidson added.

“It’s a hell of a work trip but we builders work hard.”

More to come.
