Ben Simmons is set to become the highest-paid Australian athlete in history, and he’s celebrating in style.
Simmons has agreed to sign a $241 million contract extension over 5 years with the Philadelphia 76ers, which will place him on the most valuable salary of any Australian sports star.
The incredible figure has lead Simmons to splash a bit of cash today and go in on a timeshare for a second hand 2015 Stejcraft Monaco 610.
Going in on the boat with a mate from Box Hill Secondary College, Simmons said he can’t wait to get down to Bells Beach and give it a run before the season kicks off.
“Best part about this whole deal,” laughed Simmons in an exclusive interview with The Betoota Advocate this morning.
“My mate reckons he’ll look after it all, and got a real good price on it too.”
Simmons explained he was tossing up between the second-hand cabin cruiser and a brand new XLT Ford Ranger.
“Decided I’ll get the Ranger next year if all goes well.”
“Can’t wait to get out at Bells now.”
“I’ve already had a few mates ask me if I can take them out on the water when I’m back in Aus.”
