They say desperate times call for desperate measures, and that certainly rings true at the Brisbane Broncos this week.
Following another horror day of headlines, the former glamour club that is no longer owned by Rupert Murdoch media has today decided to try and get on the front foot.
With the NRL currently investigating whether a group of players need to isolate and be fined for breaching the NRL’s Covid-19 protocols, the Broncos have decided to re-open their Leagues club in a special move for the players.
“Alfie, the boys, no one can seem to keep out of the fucking pokies,” explained one woman from merchandising who was the only Broncos club official who was available to speak to us today.
“So, they are firing up the VIP room at Red Hill so the boys can gamble the feature and piss away their paycheques without risking shutting down the entire code that has spent huge amounts of money to make sure everyone else who is a part of the game can survive.”
“Hopefully, it does the trick,” she sighed.
“Probably not, this club is fucked from top to bottom, but at least the rest of the league won’t suffer if the boys have a safe space to play the pokes.”
