Despite the fact that their home country is not recognised as major supporter of cricket, Brisbane’s proud German-Australian have been officially recognised as some of the biggest contributors to the success of international test matches.
In an official pre-Ashes ceremony at the Gabba this afternoon, the board members and staff from the Brisbane German Club at 416 Vulture street have been awarded the highest honour in Australian test cricket. An afternoon in the pool on day four.
“We couldn’t be putting on the spectacles that we put on without you blonde haired piss merchants” said James Sutherland, CEO of Cricket Australia.
The Brisbane German Club has for many years entered Queensland cricketing folklore, due to the venue’s close proximity to the colleseum of Queensland test cricket, the Gabba, as well as their wildly European approach to liquor licensing”
“The fact that we have your community club sitting not even twenty metres from the front gates, serving 1.5 litre stein glasses of full-strength beer, outside of the premises… We just couldn’t do it without you” said Sutherland.
“Especially after these lame mid-strength rules in the stadium bars. That’s why you are all so important. In what other world can a cricket fan drink the equivalent of of 5 schooners of heavy beer out of the same glass, during a break in play, and still make it back in time”
“We would like to cordially invite all staff and board members to have a day in the pool on day four. Just make sure you put a few people on the bar for any of the stragglers”
