A recent report by the Australian sporting body The Swimming Institute for Competitors and Club Officials (SICCO) has found that butterfly is definitely the most impressive swimming event.
For those that grew up in drought-affected areas with no access to Channel Seven, this report is in reference to a style of swimming made popular by men and women with sexy lats and biceps, every four years.
The butterfly, colloquially shortened to fly by swimming creeps, is a swimming stroke swum on the chest, with both arms moving symmetrically. It is also accompanied by the two foot dolphin kick.
While other styles like the breaststroke or backstroke can be swum adequately by beginners, the butterfly by far the most challenging stroke that requires good technique as well as actual muscles.
Not only is it the most alpha swimming style swum in competition, but it is also the newest to be implemented into competitions – first swum in 1933 and originating out of the cowardly breaststroke.
The SICCO report has also found that Butterfly is the only men’s swimming event, and that any man swimming breaststroke, or even freestyle, is actually not a man at all.
