The rapidly dwindling rugby union fanbase is demanding answers this week.
Luckily for those fans, Owen William-Walsh has them.
The two test veteran who managed to find his way on a plane across the ditch for a couple of tests over thirty years ago said he knows what it will take to lift Rugby Union from what is looking like the slump towards its nadir.
“Ticker. Heart. Culture. Respect,” said the fired up CEO of some random finance company in Brisbane’s CBD today.
“Let me tell you, during my time as a Wallaby we had a culture built on mateship and respect for each other,” explained the nostalgic old University of Queensland old boy who now feels like a job at Rugby Australia.
“We need to bring that back. None of this high-performance rubbish everyone is focused on. We just need a good group of blokes who want to bleed for the jersey,” said the William-Walsh seemingly un-versed in the elite rugby culture of New-Zealand, England and South Africa.
William-Walsh said he is now throwing his hat in the ring to rescue the Wallabies ahead of the next World Cup.
“I’m offering my services as a specialist culture coach to Rugby Australia because I’m sick of watching this train-wreck continue.”
