Teammates and coaching staff have reportedly urged Wallabies fullback Kurtley Beale to refrain from pointing out differences between his hometown of Mount Druitt and Tokyo City.
It is believed that after 14-years in and out of the Australian side, the 30-year-old rugby star is still using Mounty County as a yard stick when exploring other world cities.
Members of the Wallabies camp are reportedly growing tired of hearing Kurtley say that “ya don’t get this in the Druitt” every time he is presented with a beer vending machine or a driverless car.
As the most densely populated city in the world, Tokyo City is known for its state of-the-art infrastructure and a rail network which, according to Kurtley, is slightly more reliable than what you’d get in Mount Druitt – despite the fact his hometown is the fastest-growing metropolitan area in the world.
However, one notable difference between the Japanese Shinkansen and Sydney’s T1 Western line, is the lack of riff raff one could expect at the train station.
Beale told reporters from The Betoota Advocate that it is an unfamiliar feeling enter a carriage without hearing Western Sydney drill rap blasting from a teenagers iPhone speaker.
“Everyone is so well-behaved here” said Kurtley.
“You don’t see anyone earching”
“I dunno if they are just putting it on for us, but it’s like some of the opps gone missing”
Brisbane boy and fellow Wallaby Samu Kerevi has also reiterated how refreshing it is to catch a train without having to avoid a crump battle on the platform.
“I haven’t heard J-Squad once since I got here” says Samu.
