Australia’s ‘Greek Freaks’ have put on a show at Rod Laver Arena this afternoon, as Nick Kyrgios smashes another racquet in a heated moment of raw competitive rage against Granollers and Zeballos.
Kyrgios very unhappy with fans yelling out during his serve, which is understandable given how very annoying the crowds have been at this year’s Australian Open.
However, the irony is not lost on those watching at home, considering he and Kokkinakis have been playing up like a Bali watch all week.
Despite the carry-on, Kyrgios and Kokkinakis have just polished off the Argentinian and Spanish doubles partnership in two straight sets – after channelling their inner papous.
It was like a scene out of Oakleigh’s main street this afternoon, as the two kings began yelling and hollering like a group of elderly Greek men playing backgammon on the footpath.
The fury and the passion was on display for all, as world’s most promising tennis partnership continue on to doubles finals.
“Hλθον, είδον, ενίκησα!” shouted Kyrgios at match point, a rough Greek translation of ‘We came, we saw, we conquered”
