The Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) is in a mad rush today ahead of the big game tonight.

While the iconic sporting arena is used to hosting 90,000+ people for the big games, the ground’s staff have been swept off their feet this week.

The reason for the chaos is the Melbourne Football Club qualifying for finals for the first time since 2006, with an influx of Demons fans at the G for September football.

The MCG’s Management Chief Hamish McCawthorn explained to The Advocate today why the Dees fans have got the staff at the ground around like madmen.

“I’ve never seen anything like this. It makes Grand Final day look like a walk in the park,” Hamish McCawthorn said.

McCawthorn explained that staff and tradesman have been working around the clock for the last 48 hours to install enough Tesla chargers for the Redlegs fans.

“It’s unbelievable, we’re predicting that 85% of the city’s Teslas are going to be rolling up this evening for the game against Hawthorn,” he said.

“So we’ve rostered on 100’s of valets for tonight because that’s the type of service a lot of these Melbourne fans are going to expect”

McCawthorn explained that some of the Dees fans are going to be filthy enough about having to sit in GA, so he has warned his staff to be on their A-Game tonight.

“A lot of them are not going to be happy having to line up for beers while they discuss cleantech, share portfolios and how much better the football’s been this year, so it’s going to be a fair night ahead,” McCawthorn said.

More to come.
