Ariarne Titmus has done it again!
The Tassie Terminator has just stormed home once again to win a gold medal for herself, her family, her state/s, and her nation.
The swimmer known affectionately as Arnie swam a blistering Olympic record time of 1:53.50 in the 200-metre freestyle final, to make it two from two.
That swim marked her second victory in an Olympic final, and her second victory over arch-rival and noted American superstar Katie Ledecky.
It marked another win over the mega US swim team, causing American fans on social media to start melting down again – with threats President Biden could cut ties if we keep this shit up.
Her incredible victory set the nation off once again, alongside her coach and parents back in the POD set up in Noosa who look like they’re having the time of their lives – to the envy of pretty much everyone in the country.
The Tassie Terminator’s blitzing of the field came amidst the backdrop of her huge rivalry with the American, and the context that many thought the 400m was her race.
However, with a second gold medal in the bank, the 800 metre free now has the nation feeling like she can probably win that too while she’s at it.
On top of her efforts in the pool, the men’s and women’s fours rowing crews have also brought home gold medals, with both teams claiming nail-biting wins in their respective finals.
Following that gold rush, the nation sits with 5, with plenty calling for the swimming and rowing events to go on forever.
More to come.
