Just hours after losing his job when Facebook shutdown his wildly popular  “Australians against Sharia” page, the Bosnian teenager behind the page has been picked up by the national broadcaster to spearhead their election coverage.

Zlatan Grbić, a 16-year-old social media manager from Sarajevo, said via Twitter that he’s ‘pleased’ to take on the new role with the ABC and he’s ‘looking forward’ to getting to work.

“This is great. Very good experience that I will have there,” he said.

“Looking forward to getting to work and meeting my idol, Thomas Tilley,”

“Great journalist, great troll.”

The ABC released a short statement on the hiring, telling The Advocate that Zlatan was the best candidate for the job.

“He has a great track record of producing engaging content that gets great metrics and reach,” the ABC said.

“Plus, he’s quite politically bias. There’s some internal discussion of Zlatan hosting Q&A once Tony Jones moves on,”

“Anthony Green is terrified of him, though. We’re working to remedy that before the NSW State Election.”

More to come.
