A local son, nephew and grandson has today melted hearts in a Betoota Heights home.
The extremely cute little moment from the little fella came courtesy of some extremely sticky sugar based treats purchased by dad – and a nice little dose of toxic plastic chemicals leaching out of the packaging they came in.
“Oh look at him,” laughed Aunty Steph, as 2-year old Kalyn bolted for Nanna and Poppy’s brand new Nick Scali with his grubby little mitts.
Getting distracted by his uncle-in-law Liam, Kalyn then sprinted to rub his sickly sticky hands all over a pair of nice white shorts – much to the amusement of the rest of the family.
Quickly being intercepted by his mum, Kalyn was then accosted by an unwanted but extremely necessary wet dish cloth.
“No more candy canes for Kalyn I think,” laughed the little fellas mum, who has recently been enlightened to the dangers of plastics and the toxic chemicals that come with them.
“Yeah I know love,” said Nanna Trish, who has been given a few TED talks over the last few months on things like BPA and phthalates – both of which can be found in plastic packaging.
“Crazy to think how little we heard about this stuff when you guys were kids,” said Trish referencing deeply concerning evidence that phthalate exposure increases the risk of harm to cognitive development and thyroid function.
“We should actually make our own,” continued Nanna, who will never pass on the opportunity to get the ‘grandies’ in the kitchen to make a bit of a mess and some delicious treats.
“That’s tomorrow’s fun activity.”
At the time of press young Kalyn was trying to jump on his other uncle- in- law, who was lying prone and hungover on the plush play mat.
More to come.
