Angus Taylor has retreated once again to the Liberal Party storm shelter as yet another cloud over his conduct and actions as come overhead.
In his position as federal energy minister, Mr Taylor has seen a number of rather serious controversies involving his name gain inches in newspapers across the country.
From accusing the City of Sydney council of going on overseas trips on company dime to a company he’s involved with selling water back to the government for tens of millions of dollars, nothing has seemed to have stuck to the olive-skinned cold country cowboy.
“That’s because I never give it the opportunity to make contact in the first place,” he laughed.
Mr Taylor invited the media to a non-descript farm on the outskirts of Canberra today and he smiled and wave for the cameras.
He held the press conference as he stood halfway down the stairs of the fabled Liberal Party storm shelter, which was built to hide John Howard form the GST backflip tempest.
“You almost got me this time, fellas,” he said to the reporters gathered around the entrance.
“Not this time, though. Now go report on that coronavirus. It will get you far more clicks than some old water wizard like me. That’s the only thing you care about, isn’t it? Clicks? I’m surprised any of you are here, really. I’d be surprised if anybody actually reads what you write.”
Mr Taylor then pointed directly at our reporter.
“Especially what you write in that inbred desert newspaper of yours. All you do it make up lies about people. Why people read your dribble is beyond me. Anyway, boys and girls, I’m off. See you all in May.”
And with that, Mr Taylor closed the hatch.
More to come.
