Popular backbencher Barnaby Joyce has thrown his support behind the NSW Blues today after a member of his staff reminded him that Queensland decriminalised abortion late last year.
Joyce, who was born in New South Wales, moved to the greatest state in the Commonwealth after completing university and promptly discovered the game of rugby league.
While he was aware of the union variety of the game from his time at private boarding school and university college, Joyce explained at the time that he was ‘captivated’ rugby league and decided to barrack for Maroons as he was living in the kangaroo capital of St George at the time.
“But that’s changed,” said Joyce, who was displeased to hear from our reporter.
“What happened to you guys? You used to be on my side?”
After telling the former Senator for Queensland that we wouldn’t be talking about that now, he continued on to say the Maroons are dead to him.
“So will the Blues if NSW decriminalises infanticide. But back to what I was saying. Tony Abbott is up in northern NSW at the moment fighting bushfires. Where’s Malcolm Turnbull? Not doing that. Probably in New York wishing he could teleport back in time and take a bullet for John Lennon or something,”
“Why am I still talking to you?”
Mr Joyce then slammed the phone down on his desk, missing the hook. He swore then hung the reciever up properly.
More to come.
