One of our town’s newest arrivals is currently enjoying his honeymoon period before he comes just like the rest of Betoota’s police force.
Probationary Constable Aldous Fiorini graduated from the Queensland Police Academy late last year and received his first posting to our cosmopolitan desert metropolis just a few weeks ago.
The 21-year-old had his first day on the job with French Quarter Local Area Command today and he caught up with The Advocate to share his experience.
“It’s been great, everybody has been so welcoming. I already feel like I’m part of the community!” he said.
“The job is so interesting. Haven’t really done much but I went for a walk around the block a few times. Haven’t had to rescue any cats from any trees yet! [laughs] Yeah, however also,
“I’m really enjoying the honeymoon period here before I inevitably become corrupt. Shaking people down, flogging them with wet phone books. Taking bribes from local business owners, you guys know the drill!”
Inspector Claude D’Foxe, the acting head of the French Quarter Local Area Command, says he’s delighted with his new youngster’s attitude.
He told our reporter that he sees the making of a great Queensland policeman in Probationary Constable Fiorini.
“I can see him making detective by 25, no trouble,” he said.
“And that’s when you really start making the big bucks. Especially on the drug squad. Bikies and other folk involved in the manufacure and distribution of drugs have deep pockets and you can basically name your price,”
“Who knows? One day he might grow up to be our local representative in Canberra? Even a minister? A man can dream, can’t he?”
