A local bloke who doesn’t really like to live life on the edge that much but still carries on like a high-stakes punter says he had a good time ‘getting up’ during the Cox plate.
The Hugh Bowman-ridden mare is now an equal record-holding racehorse with three Cox Plate wins, becoming the first horse in Australian racing history to amass more than $15 million in prize money – and no one could be happier than local diehard punter, Tugga Keneally.
“Jesus. It’s like free money. Bit dicey though” he mutters.
The 32-year-old pesticide retailer says the Spring Carnival is always a big time of the year for him.
“And the wallet! ha ha ha”
“My missus is going to go off when she finds out how much i’ve been throwing around on the ponies. Winx, my god, I thought that was the end of the streak for a while there”
However, friends remain skeptical at just how much the big fella has been putting down, after seeing his elated reaction regarding the euphoric cheers he let out during the Winx’s final wind.
“You can’t possibly be that into racing if you carry on that much about race with Winx in it” says close mate and jaded gambling addict, Tuggsy.
“Like, yeah, it’s the safest bet of 2017, the bloke made about $4.40”
“He doesn’t even have more than one betting app on his phone. He’s a pretender”
