Retelling a story from the night before, foreign girl Emma Splinder has just used the word ‘snogging’ as if it was a normal way to describe kissing someone.
Reports from the scene say Emma was able to say the word up to 3 times while keeping a straight face.
The English account exec moved out to Betoota to take on a role at a local PR agency, which is where she met Joel, the recipient of her ‘snog’.
The Advocate reached out to Emma to find out more details about her use of the word and if she plans on ‘snogging’ Joel again.
“[haha] We use it ironically,” Emma said as if trying to defend her entire country.
“It’s just another word for us so saying it is completely normal.”
“But I don’t think I’ll snog Joel again, it was more of a one-night thing,” Emma said, again somehow keeping a straight face.
The Advocate remains unconvinced that Emma is in fact using the term ironically, seeing as the verb was first heard in the late 1950s. The chances of an entire country continuously using the same term ironically for the last 60 odd years seems highly unlikely.
More to come.
