A local uncle has decided that christmas time is the perfect day to introduce his new lover, who just so happens to be a good three decades younger than him.
Arriving hand in hand with a girl who was way out of his league, Dan Parker, 56, at least had the sense to have a slightly reporaochful look in his eye as he introduced Steph to his disapproving family members – all of whom were champing at the bit for the pair to leave the room, so they could gossip.
And all wondering who will crack first, and make a comment.
“Ah everyone, this is Steph…my girlfriend”, he announced, as Steph waved merrily, obliviously doing her best to lighten the mood, “Steph, this is everyone.”
Auntie Julie is the first to try and assess the situation, though is still gentle in her approach.
“How did you two lovebirds meet?”, she asked, insinuating that there couldn’t possibly be many environments where a man in his fifties would be mingling with a woman in her twenties, “was it a work thing?”
“Haha no I don’t work, I’m still at uni”, Steph answered, promptly mum and the eldest daughter to look at each other in glee, “he’s a friend of my father, actually.”
The room is silent, the atmosphere electric.
Nonna takes a deep sip of her wine.
“Uni hmm? Maybe Dan help you get an internship at his firm.”
However, it was the youngest, Jesse, 4, who broke the straw.
“You look like her dad haha.”
More to come.
