Local Gen-X book publishing account manager, Heidi Stefani (46) has today applied a Buddhist proverb to pretty standard frustration that millions of people have had to endure.
Like most members of that awkward generation between the people that invented TV and the people that invented social media, Heidi is of the opinion that Buddhism is a really cool form of organised religion. In fact, it’s basically the same as star-signs.
When confronted with the painful predicament of seeing ‘too many people using their phones’ at a Living End gig the other night, Heidi decided to share a ‘powerful Buddhist saying’ with her girlfriends.
“Wherever you are, be there totally.” said Heidi.
“That’s what they say in Buddhism. It’s such a shame all these people need to see life through their screens”
Just like Japanese culture is to millennials, Buddhism is viewed as really unusual and alternative mindset and value system by young soft-handed Gen-Xers.
It is believed this all started around the time Australian first started visiting Bali. Which was also around the time when the hunky Hollywood silverfox Richard Gere started banging on about Tibet, before he immediately stopped getting cast in any movies that had taken investment from you know where.
When asked what her thoughts are on the current turmoil in Myanmar, which has seen thousands of oppressed Muslims slaughtered by Buddhist extremists, Heidi just shrugs.
“You know they have a saying for that in Buddhism”
“You yourself must strive. The Buddhas only point the way.”
“I try to live by that. But thats just me”
