The Home Affairs Minister announced earlier this month that strengthening our national cybersecurity should be a national priority.
Today, the Morrison Government hinted that IT degrees will be added to the list of tertiary qualifications that could one day cost more than double if they get that legislation through the Senate next week.
Despite there being an acute shortage of IT graduates qualified to work in cybersecurity.
In order to combat the inevitable shortfall that stems from making IT degrees cost over a hundred thousand dollars, Scott Morrison said today that much of the nation’s cybersecurity work will be outsourced overseas.
“To our allies, obviously,” he said.
“This isn’t a job for just anybody. Like my Sharkies wouldn’t let the bloody Roosters read our playbook before a game! We might let our working-class brothers over at the Dragons have a peak, but not a full-blown read!”
“I’m sure Peter [Dutton] has it all under control. As the future Defence Minister, he needs to be well-versed in our online security.”
More to come.
